“Bon-Voyage to Col. David S. Brown.”

New York: Colonial Club, printed by Dempsey & Carroll, January 3, 1895. Small quarto (10" x 8"), 6 leaves, illustrated, the title page printed on silk, the balance on thick card stock printed rectos only, the final leaf blank, ribbon-bound.

Condition:Lightly soiled & foxed, small stain on the unprinted lower cover, otherwise Very Good.Please see photos.

An elaborate menu for a "complimentary dinner presented to Col. D.S. Brown" at Manhattan's illustrious Colonial Club "by a few of his friends." Col. Brown was the first president of the club and about to embark on a tour of Egypt & Palestine. Two leaves bear the signatures in ink of attendees. The elegant meal featured Bouchée à la Montglas, Canvas-back Duck, & Diamond-back Terrapin a la Maryland.

As described in a contemporary account, "The menu cards were gotten up as souvenirs. The first page contained a fine representation of the Normannia, the second a series of pictures in colors illustrating the principal points of interest to be visited by Col. Brown, and the remaining pages bore the autographs of the diners."

Our default shipping is by USPS Media Mail for most of our items or by USPS Retail Ground for non-book offerings. We are happy, and would prefer, to ship by USPS Priority and include that option in the Shipping calculator.
We are happy to ship internationally but at this time, due to irregularities within the USPS, we will only do so via 's Global Shipping program.
