This is a 2 lb 5 oz specimen of native copper in host rock. I recovered it in a wooded area using a metal detectoron Sept 19th, 2018, in northern Houghton County (U.P. Michigan). The piece measures 4 1/2 x 3 1/2 x 2 1/2\" . It has been pressure washed and chemically cleaned. The copper has been spray-coated with clear, gloss lacquer to prevent tarnishing.
The host rock or matrix is a mixture of green Epidote, white Calcite, dark colored Basalt and other unknown minerals. I estimate the copper content to be about 40% of the total weight.
