This style of Easter egg in Ukraine is called dryapanka, and in Poland it iscalled skrobanki or drapanka. It is a chicken egg and was created by scratchingthe egg with a sharp instrument. This is the same technique that was used tocreate Easter eggs over 2,000 years ago. To create the egg, I first empty outthe contents of the egg. The egg is then dyed a solid color, and I scratch oretch the design into the egg using a sharp instrument. The egg is then coatedwith varnish to protect it.The egg you are purchasing will be of the same design and color of the onepictured above. There may be slight variations on the egg you receive sinceeach egg is individually hand crafted.
