This striking piece of art is a seldom seen, original painting by the talented artist Lena Liu, hand-signed by the artist in kanji. The painting features an atmospheric garden, where two white birdsseem to float over the background.

Original watercolor and gouache on fine silk cloth.
This early work is signed only in Kanji, on middle left; see photo of a later artist signature (last photo).
Undated, but believed to be c1980, early in her career.
Painting is 15 1/2 x 12 inches,suspended on a mat board backing
Golden metallic frame is 20 1/4 x 16 3/4, with double mats, under glass.
Painting and mounting are in excellent condition, original frame has some minor scratches.

About the Artist

Lena Liu (c1951 - ) is aTaiwanese American born in Taipei, Taiwan. She began painting as a child in Taiwan under the guidance of renowned painters Sun Chia-Chin and Huang Chun-Pi. Coming to the United States in 1972, she studied architecture at the State University of Buffalo, and later at U.C.L.A. Her passion for painting never left her, and in 1977 she began to paint full-time. Her watercolors have achieved recognition at national shows and exhibits. Avid collectors of her work enjoy it across various media, including limited-edition prints, porcelain collector\'s plates, ornaments, figurines, music boxes, sculptures, cards, and tapestries.
