Thank HAVE INCLUDED IMAGES OF 2 OTHER FlagS THAT I OWN TO SHOW YOU THAT THERE IS A DIFFERENCE IN THE 1920 GEORGIA STATE SEAL & THE 1954 GEORGIA STATE SEAL. I HAVE ALSO INCLUDED PICTURES OF THE GEORGIA STATE Flag THAT DATES BEFORE 1879 TO ILLUSTRATE THAT THIS Flag IS AT HEART THE SAME Flag THAT WAS USED BY THE GEORGIA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD DURING WWII.*****

1) Notice that the soldier on the 1920 State Seal is a revolutionary war soldier as the 1954 State Seal is a Civil War soldier.

2) Notice that the banners that state: “WISDOM, JUSTICE, MODERATION” are pointed at the ends on the 1920 Georgia State Seal, whereas the “WISDOM, JUSTICE, MODERATION” on the 1954 State Seal are rectangular in shape.

3) Finally, the 1920 Georgia State Seal does not have a rope around the outer circumference of the State Seal. The 1954 GA State Seal has a rope on the outer edge.

*** I have included a picture that dates from the very early 1930’s where you can see a M1799 Georgia State Flag is being flown from the Georgia Army National Guard Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia. This Flag was flown in the same position at a later date.

Description:

This is an Icon of the 1799 Design Georgia State Flag and is meant to represent the 1799 through Civil War Flag used by the Georgia State Militia through the Civil War.

This Flag was a contract piece for the Georgia Army National Guard Headquarters. This Flag was flown from the GAANG Headquarters building out of Atlanta, Georgia.

This Flag was tailored by FLOCA, The Floding Company, Atlanta. I have had 2 others just like it, and several GA Army National Guard contractor Flags from the WWII through Korean War Era contracted by FLOCA.

You can definitely see that this is an icon of the Model 1799 Georgia State Flag. This Flag has the entire 1920 Georgia State Seal as opposed to just the Georgia State Coat of Arms. Just looking at the GA State Seal we can compare it to the Georgia State Flag from 1920-1956 & the Georgia State Flag from 1956-2000, we can see that the GA State Seal is the 1920 Georgia State Seal from the 1920 Design Georgia State Flag. The Georgia State Seal was changed in 1954, and there are some pre 1956 Georgia State Flags with the modified state seal. Thus we can determine that this Flag dates before 1954. The

The maker is Floco Brand out of Atlanta, Georgia. I had a 4’4” by 5’6” Silk M1920 Georgia State Seal with silk fringing and sleeve. It was made by the same company. Both Flags are for the Georgia Army National Guard. This company must have had a large contract with the GAANG.

Make:

This is a well tailored piece. It’s a double sided Flag that measures 3ft by 5ft.

It’s made of “Old Glory Blue” just like the blue on the canton of the US National Colors.

There are 2 1920 Georgia State Seals. They are both sewn and not printed. The first seal is sewn left to right as to be read correctly on the front of the Flag. The second seal is sewn left to right as to be read correctly on the reverse side of the Flag as it blows in the wind.

The fly end is hemmed 4 times to stop fraying from occurring while flapping in the wind. The header is a nice large canvas with 2 brass grommets.

Condition:

There is sun bleaching from being flown outside, that being said, it is in great shape and should be conserved.

Description:

This is an icon of the M1799 Georgia State Flag. This design wasn’t authorized by the Georgia State Legislature in Milledgeville, Georgia or Atlanta, Georgia. This being said, it was used by all Georgia State Militia units from 1799 through 1879.

It was traditionally seen with just the Georgia State Coat of Arms. The “Coat of Arms” is just the gazebo with Constitution written above it with a ribbon hanging at each column that read in order, “Wisdom”, “Justice”, & “Moderation”. There would also be a soldier between the second and third column.

It wasn’t until 1879 that Georgia would have an authorized state Flag. Georgia changed the state Flag every time the Georgia State Militia was reorganized.

This Flag is a double sided cotton Flag with the M1920 Georgia State Seal sewn on the front and back of the Flag.

This piece measures 3ft by 4ft with a canvas header and brass grommets.

This is a true piece of history for collectors of militaria and Flags. It has been flown at the Georgia Army National Guard State Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia and is from the World War II era (1939-45). The Flag was manufactured in Atlanta, Georgia in the 1940’s.

You will never see another Flag designed like this because these were specifically made and flown at the state National Guard headquarters during the interwar period.

You can see that a Flag of this type is flown behind the GA National Guardsmen from the 1930’s that I have pictured above. I imagine it was much easier to commission a Flag with the state seal than to completely remake the 1868 version of the GA State Flag.

This item is perfect for collectors and history buffs alike who are interested in owning a piece of American history. Whether it's to display in a collection or to use as a unique piece of decoration, this Georgia state Flag is a valuable addition to any collection.
