28" Authentic Handmade AFRICAN Tribal Fetish Statue Nkisi Nkondi - Congo - Movie PropAbsolutely gorgeous and exotic handmade fetish piece originally from the Congo. Previously owned by life-long collectors and sellers of African art. It was purchased from the couple's personal collection at their home in New Jersey and I was told it was used as a prop in the blockbuster, Hollywood movie, THE GREATEST SHOWMAN ON EARTH (2017) starring Hugh Jackman for its unique and mysterious look. The statue itself stands approximately 28" tall and is about 11" wide toe to toe. It is a very sturdy piece. It must be propped against a wall to stand as it typically does not stand in an open space on its own. It has a distinct look. It was handmade of wood and twine, has a long tongue and of course, you cannot overlook the genitalia. This piece was affectionately referred to by the art director as "Tongue Man." This statue would be an outstanding addition to anyone's African art collection and would certainly be an interesting conversation piece for both lovers of art and movie cinema enthusiasts.
