Doom #1 is an over the top homage to the pioneering first person shooter (FPS) PC game of the same name. It was, according to the splash page, written by Steve \"Body Bag\" Behling & Michael \"Splatter\" Stewart, with art by Tom \"Gallows\" Grindberg.
The convention edition of the comic has been noted as the first print and was available at a convention in 1996, possibly the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 1996 in L.A., although Id didn\'t seem to have their own stand so it may have been given out from the Microsoft stand.
In terms of differences in the two editions of the comic, the earlier convention edition has the issue number in italics and the \"warning\" text at the top was not (the Anthology edition was the reverse of this). The convention edition also seemed to be printed on different whiter paper and the cover colors looked a little paler according to the Doom Wiki; adverts also differ between the two.
Doom is a comic book published by GT Interactive in May 1996 and based on the video game, Doom. Only a single issue was created, and the the comic has been thoroughly panned by critics for having utterly ridiculous dialogue. Issue 1, Knee Deep In the Dead, was written by Steve Behling and Michael Stewart, drawn and colored by Tom Grindberg, lettered by Edd Fear, and produced by Dana Moreshead through Marvel Comics as a giveaway for a video game convention making it quite rare.

All contributors were credited with gory nicknames to fit the theme of the work. It was initially produced by Dana Moreshead for Marvel Comics as a giveaway, according to former id Software business manager Mike Wilson, for the Electronic Entertainment Expo in 1996.[1]
The story is based on that of Doom, and revolves around a space marine searching for powerful weaponry in order to defeat a cyberdemon. The strip includes most of the well-known Doom monsters, including zombies, imps, cacodemons and spectres. Several of the weapons from the game are also featured, including the shotgun, chainsaw, chaingun, plasma gun and BFG9000.
I PERSONALLY GOT THIS COPY AT THE 1996 E3 EXPO IN LOS ANGELES!! PERIOD. MAYBE THIS MAKES IT EVEN RARER!!
