Samuel D Lucas (S D Lucas) was one of several signatories in 1833 on a demand for the Mormons to leave Jackson County Missouri. He was a general in the Missouri militia in the 1838 so-called Mormon War and seller believes he was the Missouri Militia General who gave Alexander Doniphan the order to execute Joseph Smith Jr, by firing squad, which order Doniphan refused to carry out.Lucas signed this 1854 document. One is signed S D Lucas and the other is signed Saml D Lucas. Seller guarantees the authenticity of the signatures.The Jackson County Circuit Court seal is embossed on the summons given to the sheriff. Lucas apparently wrote the summons and his name is in the middle of the text and is in addition to his two signatures.Lucas was elected to his position as Circuit Court Clerk and depending on one\'s Viewpoint, was a valuable person to have in the court in order to help sort out questions of land ownership because of the 1833 driving out of the Mormons/Latter Day Saints.Please look at photos carefully.
