RARE Original 1937 LZ-129 Hindenburg Airship Destruction Documents - Naval Air Station Lakehurst. The four (4) page document is dated 5/19/39 and is titled “Narrative of Events Immediately Preceding and following the Destruction of the Airship Hindenburg”. My research has indicated that these documents may have been part of the US Navy’s investigation of the disaster in the days followed. Documents such as these just don’t make it to the open market very often. The documents have been framed and matted along with Hindenburg photographs. The framed and matted is museum quality and the documents are 100% protected and preserved within the framing. The frame measures 39.25” by 29.25”. Will be packaged and shipped by UPS with insurance. Can be viewed and/or picked up in person if preferred. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. Thank you for looking.

The Hindenburg disaster was an airship accident that occurred on May 6, 1937, in Manchester Township, New Jersey. The LZ 129 Hindenburg was a German commercial passenger-carrying rigid airship, the lead ship of the Hindenburg class, the longest class of flying machine and the largest airship by envelope volume. It was designed and built by the Zeppelin Company and was operated by the German Zeppelin Airline Company. It was named after Field Marshal Paul von Hindenburg, who was President of Germany from 1925 until his death in 1934. It caught fire and was destroyed during its attempt to dock with its mooring mast at Naval Air Station Lakehurst. The accident caused 35 fatalities (13 passengers and 22 crewmen) from the 97 people on board (36 passengers and 61 crewmen), and an additional fatality on the ground.
