ANTIQUE 18th CENTURY BATTERSEA and BILSTON ENAMEL HINGED BOX. This charming and beautifully colored dome shaped box is decorated on each side with a black/white/grey classical portraits. The portraits are surrounded by gilt tracery and the palest lavender. The background is the most striking turquoise/ green on top of which it is decorated with black asterisks. 3/4 of the way up there is a brass fitting with a hing attachment. The interior is empty but I am sure it originally held a crystal scent flask.
CONDITION: Excellent except for a small enamel loss on one edge. (See Photos). It looks worse in the photo than in person.
