Rare Antique 17th C Robe belonging to Carlo Avarna Duke of Gualtieri Italy:

This State Dress robe belonged to Carlo Avarna, Duke of Gualtieri, Italy. This robe came from the estate and was handed down within the family for many generations. The robe is made of linen, silk, cotton, wool, and gold threads.
The measurements are 64 inches in total from end to end. The front measures 34 inches from the neckline, 19 inches across the chest and 27 inches in at the bottom. It's in good condition considering the age. There are some cracks in the fold lines however, this is a collectible textile belonging to a notable Duke of Sicily Italy.
Photographs show the documentation provenance whichI was given at the time of acquisition. I acquiredthis robe through CarriageHouse Galleries Antiques in Seattle, Washington, from proprietorRobert Bernard Shaw.
This is truly an exciting and extravagant textile. The embroidery is absolutely superb and can only be matched by Antique textiles seen at the Metropolitan Museumin New York.
This robe will be sold out of my collectionto pay a medical bill. I hope the buyer appreciates what this is and who it belonged to. There is no other example of a noble or a royal piece of clothing from this time period available on the open market with authenticprovenance; an assessment the textile itself.
