Here is a truly extraordinary item!!... This antique purse was custom made out of 17th Century Safavid textiles. The purse was crafted in the early 20th Century in either London or New York and there is a stamp inside that says "Especially made for BANSCHOFFS (?) in France." I could not fully decipher the name. The textiles are exquisite early Safavid metallic brocades and it is essentially a fully bordered rectangular textile panel with triangular sides. There must have been two gold or jeweled buttons at some point for the loops to hold on to. The knots that once held the button remain. If 'opened,' the framed panel would measure approx 8 x 14 inches.
