This is a museum quality vintage Hopi very important and large turquoise and silver necklace handmade by none other than the very famous artist, Preston Monongye. Preston is an incredible famous and very rare artist to come by his pieces as they are just that phenomenal. At the age of only 9 Preston started his apprenticeship with his uncle and master silversmith artist, Gene Pooyama. This remarkable necklace is one of the finest not only Hopi but Hopi and Preston Monongye pieces we have ever collected. The very large thick and sturdy pendant alone measures around 3-3/4" X 1-1/2" including the bail. Located on the pendant is a breathtaking and beautiful turquoise stone that appears to be from the impeccable Carico Lake turquoise mine. The amazing tufa cast pattern which is mostly what Preston is known for consists a mind blowing large hand tufa casted kachina. The necklace includes a remarkable and beautiful handmade silver link chain with a traditional silver clasp. Sterling silver. Cir. 1960's+. Signed by Hopi artist, Preston Monongye .
