3 Unique Metal Wood Planes Stanley Prototype Hand Made Vintage Collectible Anti For Sale
3 unique METAL wood
planes Stanley prototype hand made vintage collectible antique
You are offerding on 3 very unique vintage metal planes. The first and largest is about 12” long and 2 ¾” wide and seems to
be made out of thick sheet metal stock
It has a very early style iron
adjusting mechanism and iron holder. It
could represent a Stanly “prototype” or
pre-Stanley attempts to create adjustable metal planes. It has a wood handle but otherwise
a unique combination of metal parts whose details can be seen in the 3rd and 4th
The second plane is
9” by 2 3/8” wide and is obviously a unique hand made design by a skilled metal
craftsman. It could also be experimental
or a prototype. It has a stylized curved handle in front, a stylized
rounded body, a “scrolled” frog and
a “scrolled” wooden wedge It also
has a removable wooden wedge which sets the angle of the iron. Most unique is the thick sole plate which is
made of two sections, the front and rear meeting at the iron opening with a
tongue and groove connection. I assume
from its beautiful construction that it
is very old like the first plane. Details can be seen in pictures 6 through9.
The last plane is also old but obviously from an industrial production with
its cast body and adjusting mechanism.
It is 6 ¾” long and 2” wide and has a very low angle iron with
an unusual adjusting mechanism. It also has the stylized lettering of the manufacturer cast with the
body. It is hard to read but could be
“Tum” “Fum” or possibly “Jum”. It appears to be an old lettering
style. The wedge on this is split.
All three planes appear to be very old and are collectors
items, although the 2nd plane
is very solid, well thought out and could be tuned up to be used.
They will ship USPS medium flat rate box.
I have some other vintage tools listed and will be listing
more, so check my other sales and make me a “Favorite Seller” if you like!
