For sale is my fantastic 1970 Kaiser Jeep M35A2 Tribute Gun Truck. As used in Vietnam these trucks protected our Supply Convoys in rout to various military installations throughout the country. This truck purchased from the U.S. Army, and was built based on photos and reference books about Gun Trucks and Crews of the day
I documented the the progress of the build on steel soldiers 4 or 5 years ago. since then the truck has covered about 4000 miles traveling to Air shows, Military events ,
Parades and Car shows thruout the Central Texas area. It was was at the Texas Viet Nam Vets Monument Dedication at the Texas State Capitol earlier this year and was the transport escort vehicle the the Dog Tags of the over 3000 Texas Vets who were KIA. These tags were transported to the foundry where the monument was built and tags in it\'s
interior.
The Armored box is very well built and very accurate featuring sand bag wells and a back door for ease of visitors to board and view the truck up close. (The original trucks had no entry door to the Gun Box, they just climbed over) Te Armor plating in the cab door is just for example purposes and can be removed with ease. Door windows are included.
It is a real crowd pleaser , greatly appreciated by by the public and Vets familiar with these vehicles. Tons of complements on a job well done with the build..
The platform is a 1970 Kaiser Jeep M35A2, Multifuel whistler turbo 6x6 . The box is constructed using 3/16 cold rolled steel sheets and supported 1.5\" steel angle.
The floor is lined w/ nearly 100 fifty cal. ammo cans and 11, 20mm cans along the forward bulkhead. M142 gun mounts for M60s cover the port and starboard sides of the truck and M66 Gun ring for M2 Browning over the cab. For coms the vehicle is correctly outfitted with fully functioning VIC1 intercom w 3 crew stations in the rear and driver com in cab.
At the NCOIC station is fully functioning RT -542 transceiver and R442 receiver and antenna MX-2799 VRC. Each station uses the H-161 boom mic headset. .The original tool box seat is in the cab as well as rifle mounts for two rifles.
The trucks name \"BAD ASS\" and caricature are of my own design, loosely based on the knights chess piece on Paladins calling card from \"Have Gun Will Travel \".
The public loves the name and gets huge applause where ever it goes.
This truck is extremely reliable and can be driven anywhere. No cancer rust in this truck , it is solid. The paint is Gullispe OD 86047.
A note about this truck: This was not built to be a show vehicle, it does not appear to have just rolled off the assembly line . It was built to emulate the combat used vehicle it represents. Thus said, it is extremely well built and thought out and will serve as a lasting example of equipment used by proud bunch of guys in Viet Nam so many years ago now
