This is a four-draw \"The Lord Bury\" telescope by J. H. Steward, No. 1803. It has a 3-inch field lens, ray shade, and dust slide. The second draw is by the maker along with the words \"Blackstone plains\" (please note, in the photos I forgot to pull out the first draw). The body is leather covered brass and there is a maker\'s plaque on the body tube. It comes with it\'s leather end caps, and measures 10 1/2 inches long, unextended.I\'ve dated it to circa 1875 by the listed addresses.William Keppel, (1832-1894) Viscount (or Lord) Bury, the eldest son and heir of the Earl of Albemarle, was a career soldier and politician, serving in both Liberal and Conservative governments.
