A MUSEUM QUALITY PORTRAIT MINIATURE IN A STUNNING SOLID 16K GOLD FRAME WITH A GARLAND LEAF MOTIF SET WITH MAGNIFICENT NATURAL PEARLS AND DATED 1905!!!
This is a superb miniature portrait set in a large solid 16K gold frame. The painting is absolutely beautifully done with great skill and detail. It depicts a woman in a lace trimmed dress with a cameo at her neck. The quality of the painting is superb. She has stunningly beautiful eyes, the hair has extraordinary detail, her face is sensitively done, her dress is just magnificent with an impressionist flair. The painting is not signed on the front. The painting appears to be done on a natural substance but I cannot say for sure.
The portrait is framed in an exquisite solid 16K gold frame. This is really one of the finest pendant/brooch portrait frames I have ever seen. It is in the category of Faberge. The exquisite piece has an outer garland with a leaf motif which is studded with pearls. Inside this is a border set with pearls. These pearls are absolutely extraordinary. I have not had them x-rayed but are quite sure they are natural. They have exquisite lustre and the nacre is intact on all of them. They are the most gorgeous white color and all appear original to the piece. The gold is the most beautiful rose gold, just gorgeous!
On the back of the pendant/brooch is a monogram and the engraved date \"1905\". The finishing on the back is also exquisite, attesting to the quality of the jewel. There is a pendant loop so the portrait can be worn as a necklace and also a pin.
The jewel is worthy of the great Miniature and Antique Jewelry collections in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
The miniature comes from a magnificent New York estate. In a fine antique jewelry store this piece would be approximately $15,000.
The portrait pendant is in wonderful period condition. The portrait is in wonderful condition. The gold is in excellent condition. The pearls are in superb condition. The frame is 60 mm tall and 50 mm wide. The portrait is covered with glass. The piece weighs 31.3 grams.
