STANDISH BARRY THREE PENCE

It is thought that these coins--minted in 1790 by Standish Barry, a re silversmith, clockmaker and engraver--were an advertising venture at a time when small change was scarce. The inscription BALTIMORE TOWN along with the precise date JULY 4, 90 on the obverse may have been that of George Washington.

Struck in silver, the coins carried the words STANDISH BARRY THREE PENCE on the reverse. They were popular because they helped the people of Baltimore make small change.

A Fantastic reproduction...Please see pictures as they are part of description...Thank you.
