Descriptionand Postmarks.Cover only. Stampless, sellonegro folded cover sent by Juan Martinez to Santiago Viadaurri, governor ofNuevo Leon, in Monterrey. Features “2”reales rate stamp on the back, boxed “SAN BUENAVENTURA” (Schatzkes 1371) date stamp (ironically with no date inscribed),and straight line, unadorned “FRANCO” (Schatzkes1371a) handstamp strikes in brownink. Strikes are bold, if not overlyinked, but not quite complete. While thestamped portion is complete, it lacks the handwritten date as mentionedearlier.

ConditionDetails.The cover itself is constructed of standard quality blue paper. Paper has aged well with only minor yellowingnormally seen with paper this old; along the edges the discoloration is moreapparent. Edges and corners show onlyminor wear and no rips/tears/thin spots/holes.There is original damage around the wax seal and a section of the paperis missing, but is interior to the cover and doesn’t detract in any way fromthe appearance of the cover.
