1893 World Columbian Exposition Illustrated Authentic World’s Fair Journal No. 29-Good ConditionCondition: This illustrated journal is in good shape, but has moderate edge and corner wear to both front and back covers…there is a small piece missing from the lower left edge of the front cover – there are 3 minor tears on the right vertical edge of the front cover (1” for one tear, and ½” for the other two tears) – the bottom edge of the front and back covers were factory overtrimmed by about 1/8”…the spine is intact, but worn through in spots…this journal was printed on cheap paper, slightly better than newsprint, so it is somewhat fragile (it will be shipped in a box for protection)…page 107 has pencil marks on the lower right corner, plus some discoloration…the upper right corners of all of the pages are bent over (curled)…some of the inner pages have wrinkles from being read…all of the inner pages appear intact – page 121 has some discolored spots and some ink writing in the lower right corner – some of the inner pages have minor staining. Description: This newsletter or journal measures 15 ½” high by 10 5/8” wide by 1/8” thick…this issue has 40 pages, counting the covers…this issue has lots of photos, illustrations, and ads…the ads are very interesting in their own right, including some offering various “Patent medicines” that promised to “cure any and all diseases“ including cholera, as well as “cures” for cocaine and heroin addiction, as they were legal at the time…NOTE-all photos and illustrations on the inside are in black and white.Notes: Here’s an interesting paper from the Gilded Age!
