Fresh from the estate of a Florida antique dealer, this is a rare opportunity to obtain a set of 25 sepiatones of the Panama Pacific International Exposition. This is a unique view at the exhibition from the perspective of a talented photographer/artist. The photos are mounted on olive colored photo album paper and bound in a book like form. The photos are all in very good condition, except for the panoramic view which has a crease in the middle where the page is folded (it was intended this way). The outside cover is fully dated and marked as the official publication. The corners and edges of the book are larger than the pages and have creased and have several small tears. None of these affect the photographs. sale records for sepiatones average $100 a photograph, with many going higher, depending on subject.Sepiatones or silver photographs are rare as they used a developing fluid containing silver oxide. This process was highly toxic and has been abandoned long ago. The resulting photographs are highly prized because of their archival quality and clarity. These images are as clear as if they were taken a month ago. Notice how the Golden Gate Bridge is missing from the last full panoramic image!
The book is produced by Robert Reid, the same artist who made the 8 murals in the dome of the Palace of Fine Arts, which still stands today (the murals were replaced by WPA artists during the second WW).
