1960\'s BURNS BISON COPY

Remember BEATLEMANIA in the 1960\'s? Every body wanted an electric guitar. Sears, Wards, Harmony, Kay... nobody could keep up with the demand forgood entry levelguitars. The Japanese entered the market in a big way.A true part of guitar history.

Best I can tell, this is a1960\'sIBANEZElectric Bass Guitar. My research lead me toa twopickupMaxitone model 5902, thatis very similar. I\'ll call this the model 5901. Made in Japan, MIJ.This is an extremely rare, pre lawsuit model. Shipped to the US years before Gibson made a fuss about the blatant Les Paul knock offs (1977). It is ingood solid playable condition. It plays every bit as good as it did when new, and that\'s not saying much, HA! It is instruments like this that make me believe the Japanese did not figure out how to make a greatguitar until the 1970\'s. There are design flaws I noticed when inspecting it... it has a truss rod with anut buried into the heel of the neck and you can\'t put a wrench on it, thereare no adjustments to the bridge saddlesandthe only way tochange the action is to shim the neck, the tuner keys rattle and they are original. I guess I can brag about how it plays as good as new!?!

Features include: Chrome hardware, open 4-on-a-striptuners, 34 inch scale, three piecelaminatedneck, 20 fret rosewood finger board w/ pearlydot markers, singlepickup, volume control, tone control, multiple pick guards, covered bridge, sunburst body finish. The neckhas a slight bowl, that may come out if you can figure out how to put a wrench on the trussrod nut. All the electronics work as they should, asI cleaned the controls. I noticed the jack was branded switch craft, so it is a replacement. There are light normal bumps, marks, dings, scratches, and scuffson the body and neck. The hardware is worn, but not rusty, it would clean up nice.It used to have a pickguard on each of the horns. I noticed the pickguard material has shrunk from age, so they may have just fallen off. I have not completely serviced the guitar, but I did wipe most of the dust off and look under the control plate. No extra routs, but a couple of re-solders. It has the original pots and pickup. I added a non-original tuner bushing in an attempt to quiet the rattle in theG string. Itcould obviously use some new strings andmore cleaning. My suggestion is tohang it on your wall (it would look cooler than that stuff your wife calls art), show it off to yourguitar fetish friends, donate it to your local museum, or play it like it is... 1, 2, 3, 4...She loves you Yeah, Yeah, Yeah...

Take a look at the last picture and my other listings.I have a great collection of genuine, vintage Japanese basses for sale...brands similar to Aria Pro II, Pan, Univox, Conrad, Sekova, Ventura, Hondo, Crestline, Drifter, Cortez, Aspen, Lyle, Greco, Ibanez, Pence, Myra, Electra, Concord, Aims, Conqueror, just to name a few. $29.95shipping, insurance, packaging and handling to lower 48 states. Items over 2 lbs will ship UPS or Fed Ex ground, (no PO Boxes). Thanks for looking and good luck.

The US Postal service shows a size restriction to Australia, but I could remove the neck and send it as parts in a smaller box. I have done this successfully in the past. The neck is easily removed and reassembled with 4 phillips head screws. This would require a smaller box, save on shipping cost and most likely save on customs fees if there are any (usually none to Australia). USPS Priority Mail international is $125. I have edited my listing to include shipping to Australia. Due to the cost and risk of shipping to foreign countries I do not take returns. The buyer is responsible for the package once I deliver to the USPS, including but not limited to taxes, fees, customs charges, loss, damage, delays, etc. Thanks. Tom
