1960s Eko Cobra XII Vintage 12 String Guitar Collector Grade w/tags & Case Italy:
$1199.99

Up for sale a 1960s Eko Cobra XII in near mint, collector grade condition and in perfect working order. This is one of the finest Eko guitars you\'ll ever find for sale, complete with all of the original hangtags, hardshell case and even the plastic \"Eko\" branded wrapper that went over the case when it first shipped out to dealers fifty years ago. It\'s simply a stunningly clean guitar that\'s been passed around to a dealer or two over the decades, but to our knowledge has never been privately owned (let alone played!), as we even have the original set of strings carefully wrapped up and included in the case pocket.
Tonally, this guitar is a ton of fun, with great jangle and clarity, not to mention a surprising amount of warmth from the two single coil pickups. A three-way switch and master Volume/Tone controls are all you need to effectively dial in a wide range of tones, from spank and sparkle in the bridge position to more robust and full voicings in the neck position without sacrificing the chime that every good twelve string guitar should possess. The lower horn also has a two-way mellow/bright switch toggle for added versatility. Featherweight at 6lbs 4oz, the guitar has a clear and sweet acoustic voice that translates well through the pickups.
The neck has a generous 1 7/8\" nut width that provides great string separation and keeps things from feeling too cramped. D shaped with well rounded shoulders, the neck profile has a flatter spot near the center that\'s ideal for resting the thumb and makes the instrument extremely comfortable to play. The frets are virtually flawless, with no notable wear to speak of and the guitar has been freshly restrung with action that is low and consistent up the board. On the headstock, the Eko silkscreen logo is mint as well as the \"Made in Italy\" badge on the back. The nickel tuning machines show only the lightest patina, with clean white buttons and gears that hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as they should, with almost no static in the pots and switches that engage securely in each position. The chrome on teh body shows on wear and the beautiful domed and chrome capped knobs are a very rare sight indeed. As with so many Eko guitars, the pickguard has shrunk slightly away from the two screws on the horns and near the input jack, so these tiny nibs are missing. Cosmetically, there is very little wear to report as one might expect, with one tiny nick central on the back of the headstock, as well as one small ding through the finish on the treble side lower bout, just south of the controls (as small as the lead tip on a pencil). This is as clean as they come and the very definition of \"collector grade.\"
The original hardshell case is included and as clean as the guitar with the aforementioned Eko plastic cover seen in photo #12. While the thin plastic cover is ripped, the fact that it even exists is a wonder and the Eko graphics on it are great. The case has perfect latches and handle, with the factory stapled cardboard \"Cobra - 12 string (sunburst) label on one end, still intact and flawless.
Hangtags include the Eko warranty and registration card, guitar shaped \"Eko Guarantee\" tag, and the embossed \"Internationally Acclaimed\" globe shaped tag outlining the features of the instrument. Please check out our shop \"Mike & Mike\'s Guitar Bar\" on the web, and feel free to call us directly with any questions at 206.399.8518.
