1964 DKW Munga by Auto Union. Extremely RARE vehicle. This is a complete original! Used by the German Border police - NATO model. This includes the actual Owner's Manual, in English, which is also very rare to find anywhere. 897CC 3 cylinder two stroke engine. 4 speed with 1 reverse gear. 24V system. All-wheel drive. It includes the gun racks between the seats and has a UN number plate under the engine.

The story behind this machine is large part of the great history of this vehicle. During WWII, theoriginal owner of this vehicle was a German dive bomber pilot. He was shot down, but managed to make it back to a German hospital. There he noticed that the SS kept visiting the men next to him and found out they were American soldiers. They were being treated with the intent of executing them once they were healed. He also found out his next line of duty would be the Russian front line, which would have been a death sentence for him. After he was treated, he put on his uniform, grabbed his pistol and took the two Americans with him, under the disguise of being his prisoners, and made it to the front line. Once there, they switched roles and he became their "prisoner" and they crossed over, which saved all three of their lives. Long after the war, once of the Americans that he saved took him back to Germany and offered him anything he wanted, as thanks. He selected this Munga jeep and brought it back over to the states, as a momento. Approximately two years later, he sadly passed away. The jeep has been stored in a covered barn ever since, including when it was owned by him and by us,and is a part of history.
