Up for sale, a 1964 Fender Deluxe Reverb in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. Widely considered to be one of the greatest tube amps of all time, this Deluxe Reverb has been expertly maintained, and is 99% original. A first year model with a \"Fender Electric Instruments\" faceplate and rare no logo grill, the amp is pure Pre-CBS Blackface goodness. Stocked with a matched pair of NOS RCA 6V6 power tubes and a brand new set of Groove Tubes in the preamp, this Deluxe delivers the shimmering, balanced clean tone that has made these amps a mainstay in studios and on stages for decades. The amp has great midrange content, light compression and starts to saturate with smooth tube overdrive after about 4 on the volume dial. The Reverb is very lush with long decay and the Tremolo has a strong pulse with an almost three dimensional quality to the effect when you increase the intensity.
Professionally recapped with Sprague Atom filter caps, the amp also sports a modern three-prong power cable, so the power amp is stable and working as per factory spec with a very low noise floor suitable for recording. A recap is standard maintenance for any amp of this vintage (the original components have a life of 10-20 years), and only the highest quality, factory spec components were used. All of the original Ajax blue molded tone caps are intact in the preamps and these caps are one of the hallmarks of classic Blackface tone. The CTS pots and chassis stamp date the amp to 1964, matching the dates on the Reverb, Output and Power transformers. The choke even dates to late 1963!
The tube chart is intact with an \"NG\" date code which translates to July of 1964. An era correct Oxford 12K5-6 12\" speaker is present as well, with a clean frame, original blue Fender label on the ceramic magnet and the fresh recone! The Oxford 12K5-6 is a speaker that Fender only used in the Deluxe Reverb and it has very sweet midrange while dampening some of the highest piercing treble frequencies for a very smooth and musical tone. Here at Mike & Mike\'s Guitar Bar, we wouldn\'t recommend any other speaker for the ideal Blackface tone in this amp!
Cosmetically, the amp is very clean and complete with original smooth black tolex and silver sparkle grillcloth. The grillcloth has only aged lightly since \'64 and the Blackface faceplate shows very little wear with all of the black witch hat knobs intact. The tolex shows a few small scuffs around the edges of the enclosure, but overall this amp is a very strong 8.5/10, with a speckling of light surface rust on the chassis straps and a few of the original corners, but no significant wear of note at all!
This is a very minty and well maintained example of one of Fender\'s most famous Blackface amps! Don\'t miss out on this 1964 Deluxe Reverb.
