Gibson\'s EB-3 bass guitar was released in 1961 and wasproduced through 1979, sporting the familiar sharp double-cutaway solid bodysimilar to the SG. As an upgrade to the EB-0, which also makes the EB-3 a moredesirable collectors\' piece, the EB-3 sports dual humbuckers on its solidmahogany body with a metal cover over the bridge pickup and a 4-position rotarytone switch.

A fantastic opportunity to buy a superb example of theGibson EB-3 bass guitar made famous by players such as Jack Bruce, Andy Fraser,Mike Watt, Bill Wyman and many more great bass players. This example iscompletely original bar a jack socket change and possibly one pot (the solderobscures the serial number). Serial number and pot codes correctly date to 1964-5manufacture. This is the most recognizable and desirable model with theoriginal wide space potentiometer layout.

There are no breaks or repairs and the rosewood fingerboardis the ultra-desirable pre-1966 rosewood. Pickups are all original andoperating to original spec (no wiring or custom mods) hence the full fat“Mudbucker\" tone of the neck and “choked” intermediate settings have allbeen retained as per the original factory spec.

The Cherry Red finish is original and shows no sign ofrefinishing or touching up. Lots and lots of finish checking, but it looks socool and has not affected the instrument at all. At over 50 years old the basshas the type of ageing and play marks one would expect, but fortunately thebass has been left as is all through its life. Although a great collectableinstrument due to its originality, it is very much a playing, workinginstrument with good fretwork, a straight neck and clean electronics. You canhang it on the wall and admire it or play it at your next gig.

This vintage Gibson EB-3 Short Scale Bass Guitar is a useditem in VG condition. This bass has been kept in original condition withoutelectronic mods. There is significant finish checking all over the instruments(as pictured). Some small dings can be seen on the body and one on the back ofthe neck but these are normal considering the age of this bass. The headstockshows some finish chipping along the top. The thumb rest was moved by the originalowner from above the pickups to the pickguard. You will also see arm rest wearon the edge where the right arm goes (again, as pictured). Electronically allis sound with the instrument. Neck is in fine shape and the frets show somewear, but there is a lot of life still showing on them. We do not believe thisbass has seen a refret. You will receivethis item well-packed in a hard shell case (do not think it is an original, butit is a 60’s style case), but without the original paperwork and packaging.Please contact this seller for additional information.
