1966 Fender Precision Bass Original Vintage:

Thisis an actual 1966 Fender Precision Bass. It is all original with thepossible exception (i\'m told) of one of the string Tees. A set ofchromepickup and bridge covers are included (not shown) which are notoriginal to this bass, but are of thesame vintage and correct. The finger rest was removed sometime in thepast but the screws are there.

Other than that, there have been no modifications, breaks orrepairs.

The neck is dated Feb 1966. So, it is right at the cusp whenFender was bought by CBS. The sunburst finish is of the paint type thatpre-CBS would have used, as compared to the later stuff. And, ofcourse, being dated 1966, instead of 1965, its a lot less pricey than aone year older bass even though its nearly identical and probably ismade of mostly of 1965 parts.

I am the third owner. The original owner sold the bass to a goodfriend of mine in about 1975/76 in northern Oklahoma. My friend playedthis bass from the mid 1970\'s in touring bands across North Texas toWichita, KS and through the 1990\'s in Colorado.

I purchased it from him in 2014 as he needed the money and sinceit\'s a killer mo-chine. I\'m a guitar player, so don\'t need this muchbass.

As you can see in the photos, this bass has been used quite a bitand shows real, honest play wear everywhere. A true relic. The pickguard has shrunk some over time. My tech refused to take off thepickguard to examine the pickups for fear that the pick guard wouldcome apart. The pickups, pots and wiring are original and the basssounds and plays fantastic as you would expect.

The body is Alder and the bass is quite light - approximately 8.8lb.

This bass is set up beautifully. The truss rod works well.It\'s got flat wounds on it right now.

The original case is in good working, solid condition-all latcheswork, handle is decent. The interior is very good/excellent. The caseexterior has wear, some tears and separation of the tolex from theunderlying wood as one might expect.

This bass belongs in the hands of someone whowill play and appreciate Once you receive it, PLEASE, leave the instrument inits closed case overnight to acclimate. It\'s agood idea not to shock the guitar with drastic temperature changes.This instrumenthas been setup locally by my tech who works on all my guitars.
