This is the best of both worlds. A vintage jazz bass that plays like a Alleva Coppolo!!

Let me start by saying, if this had a rosewood fretboard...I would be buried with it. She plays like a dream and sounds as it like a early 70\'s should. Geddy Lee would cry playing this, but maple fretboards and I just don\'t jive. If you are a Maple guy...this is H.E.A.V.E.N!! God only knows how much the owner at the time paid Jimmy Coppolo to restore this bass.

Comes with a hardshell case (in great shape) and extra black pick guard.

Killer playability, vibe and tone. Neck is thin and plays so fast with perfect action and the flame is absolutely beautiful!! This is a players bass and not a collectors item but will not disappoint. According to the serial number it\'s a 1973 model.

Jimmy Coppolo did a fantastic job resurrecting this instrument. The action is impeccable. The pickups are voiced spot on and the fret work is world class. 9.2lbs. Neck is super stable and has not been adjusted in 6 years (truss adjustment nut is flush with end of fingerboard and turns with ease).

Full disclosure there is a small route under the pickguard from the 9volt battery/Active setup present before Jimmy Coppolo did the work. A few of the tuner screws are missing, but has functioned perfectly since I have owned it.

The backstory: Originally bought from Jimmy Coppolo\'s NY shop as he was segueing into just making and selling his basses. It was in need of refretting and had a active EMG system installed before the work was done. Jimmy refinished the neck in a light gloss (like what he does on his basses), refreted the bass and he built and installed a set of era appropriate pickups with high quality, appropriate electronics.

This bass sounds amazing, very classic mid 70\'s funk tone. Cosmetically, there is a good deal of wear and tear. You can see the size difference of the replacement tuners, there is some pitting on the back of the neck (the front is fine) and there is belt rash and other dinging on the back and front. The front has two screw holes for a bridge cover.

So, obviously this is not a collectors piece and not much in the original parts department, but it plays like a dream and has seen minimal use since Jimmy gave all of this TLC to it! Personally, the black block necks are about as sexy as it gets for Jazz.
