1973 Fender Telecaster Thinline Vintage Guitar Natural Ash Wide Range Humbuckers:

Up for sale, a 1973 Fender Telecaster Thinline in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This second iteration of the Tele \"Thinline\" model was introduced in \'72, boasting a pair of Seth Lover designed Fender \"Wide Range\" humbuckers, some of the most clear, powerful, and rich sounding pickups ever heard on a Fender! As the chief designer behind Gibson\'s PAF humbucker design, Lover certainly knew how to make a dynamic and balanced pickup, and the Wide Range design succeeds in delivering glassy, percussive cleans that have an incredible amount of warmth and nuance. With a semihollow ash body, this Tele delivers the tonal qualities that the beloved tone wood implies, with a midrange content and punch not typically heard on Fender\'s alder bodied instruments! Weighing only 7lbs 6oz, this Tele Thinline is very balanced on a strap and comfortable to play for long gigs and sessions, with a range of tones that\'s suitable to a variety of genres. Whether you want traditional bridge pickup twang or more mellowed out jazzy warmth, a flip of the three-way pickup selector switch and master Volume and Tone controls make it easy to easily dial in exactly what you need. Professionally setup here at our shop, Mike & Mike\'s Guitar Bar, this Tele is freshly restrung with 11-50 roundwound strings and dialed in with low, comfortable action and solid intonation.
The one-piece neck has a full medium C profile that borders on the chunkier side of things. The guitar has been professionally refretted with fretwire that is both slightly wider and taller than the original wire without quite reaching a \"medium jumbo\" size. Perfect for both players that like the feel of vintage fretwire and those seeking larger wire for effortless bending and greater fret life, this Tele satisfies both camps. When refretted, the maple fretboard was also refinished, a common practice with finished maple fretboards, done to achieve the most consistent playing surface (the finish on the rest of the guitar is 100% stock and untouched). The new frets are virtually unplayed, and the guitar plays exceedingly well with no buzzing or dead spots and decades of fret life for future use. On the headstock, a set of original Fender \"F\" tuning machines are present, turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The tuner holes were at one time enlarged to accommodate different tuners, and we\'ve installed a set of StewMac conversion bushings to properly fill these holes and secure the vintage Fender gears currently installed on the instrument.
All of the electronics work as the should, with original CTS pots that date to late \'73 and Wide Range humbuckers with similar date stamps on the back of the bobbins. The original knurled chrome knobs are present as well as the stock white pickguard, bridge and \"top hat\" selector switch knob. The only non-original hardware on the body is a pair of newer chrome strap buttons that match the look of the originals. The original body routes are untouched and the neck pickup cavity is stamped \"Natural\" to denote the clear finish on the ash body. The three-bolt neck plate has a clean serial number which also dates to 1973 along with the stamp on the neck heel. The ash body has incredible grain, highlighted by the clear finish which shows moderate cosmetic wear specifically on the back of the instrument, while the top remains quite clean with only a few minor dings. On the back, there\'s one roughly quarter sized spot of wear through the finish as well as some buckle rash and various small scratches from honest use, but no serious or structural wear of any kind. There are a few small assorted nicks and scrapes on the sides of the body as well as two small marks of wear adjacent to the bass side of the 5th and 11th frets, but once again these marks are purely cosmetic and do not affect the playability of the guitar in any way.
This is a well maintained, lovingly played and very original 1973 Telecaster Thinline, professionally setup and ready to be played!
The original hardshell case is included, complete with Fender logo on the exterior. The two outside case latches are new, while the center latch and handle is original, although the handle is bare metal and missing the original leather covering. The ends of the case show moderate wear to the leather, while the orange plush interior is quite clean, with the original case pocket and padding in good shape.
