Civil War Sutler token Schenkman OH 61-10B (formerly OH Z-10B) R8 NGC MS64 with 30% original bright mint luster. O. V. U. S. A. 61st Regt. 10 Cents John Stanton Die Sinker Cincinnati (makers mark). From the Steve Tanenbaum and Dave Schenkman collections April 1991 and this example was the Plate Token in the First Edition of the Sutler token book. (1,250-1,500)We were fortunate enough to buy the Civil War Sutler token and cardboard scrip collection of the late Steve Tanenbaum. He was the consummate collector and formed by far the finest and most complete collection of these items. He never hesitated to upgrade each piece from the countless number of sutlers he handled as THE dealer in this series for over 20 years. As a result most of his examples are the finest known, many by a considerable margin. While most of the rarities in the series have been placed is advance collections the vast majority of what remains is exceptionally nice for the variety. We recently had many of these professionally graded by NGC who were nice enough to place them in a special Tanenbaum pedigreed holder (Steve had never submitted any of his Sutler tokens for grading).Buyer pays $2.50 postage.
