Here for sale between Austin and Houston, TX by Paige / Caldwell, Texas is a 1959 John Deere 730 Diesel Tractor. 1959 Serial #7319213. You see in the pictures it doesn\'t have rear tires and the radiator is not there. A farmer used those on his 720 tractor when he needed them otherwise the tractor was complete before then.

The pistons, head and engine are there and the head is off it now and they were stored inside and we took them outside last week and shot some pictures as you\'ll see in the 3rd from the end photo above. You\'ll see we photographed down into the piston. Factory electric start and has some pieces of the 3-Point still on it as you\'ll see. The square tube wide front has no welds seen on the main section. You can see the break on the left steering arm as shown in the picture of the left side and those are readily available new for $123 or from parts yards under $100. These front ends alone in used condition sell up to $1,500 or $1,600 at collector sales as you may know depending on condition and usually they aren\'t as clean as this front end.

On this 730 tractor if you need help with delivery we can help ship it at just .50-.60 mile if over 500 miles.

And the great thing about a classic 730 like this is it makes a great investment since they\'ll appreciate and go up in value while you use and enjoy them. Unlike a new car or tractor that depreciates up to 30% in value the minute you drive it off the lot.

From the John Deere Collectors Guide - \"The culmination of the big brother line, the 730 was the ultimate two-cylinder row-crop tractor. The Model 730 made its debut with the 30 Series as a replacement for the 20 Series, with an emphasis on more power and operator convenience and comfort.\"

\"After the broad range of improvements incorporated in the \"20\" Series, the engineers narrowed their focus for the \"30\" Series, concentrating on operator comfort and convenience. The \"30\" Series introduced new-style fenders, offering greater protection from mud, dust, and accidental contact with rear wheels. Fender handholds, and a step mounted on the rear axle, made mounting and dismounting easier. Once aboard, the operator sat comfortably in a deep-cushioned, adjustable seat with cushioned backrest.

Dual, sealed-beam lights were mounted in each fender. Inner lights projected ahead, outer lights flooded the working area. Steering was redesigned, with the wheel mounted on a column projecting upward from the instrument panel, permitting a tilted wheel more natural to grasp.

A new instrument panel put fuel, oil-pressure, ammeter, and coolant temperature gauges in an easy-to-read cluster around the steering column. Speed-hour meter, cigarette lighter, ignition switch, and starter button were in a lower panel. Both panels were illuminated for night work.

Starting became a pushbutton matter, the button located conveniently just below the ignition switch. The 730 Diesel introduced electric starting for diesels, a simpler and lower-cost alternative to the diesel starting systems available earlier.\"
