This is natural wood and may release harmless tannins into the water. Depending on the size of your aquarium thiscan “tint” your aquarium water a natural light brown color. You can lessen this effect by presoaking thewood in a bucket for a couple weeks, or as long as it takes for the tannins tobleed out. With regular water changesthey will eventually go away. Thetannins are actually a great benefit to many soft water fish and can also helpstimulate breeding.
