this is an AWESOME circa mid 1800s antique writing box with a fine bone or ivory scrimshaw style butterfly inlay in the center of the lid.11\" w x 7.5\" d x 5\" tall. Other very fine inlay materials include mother of pearl and fine brass wire.Nice mahogony and other burled wood on lid,very fine.Very nicely inlaid and none of the fine tiles or pieces are missing as far as i can see? Purple velvet writing pad is original but faded and the the thin wooden separator inserts are not glued in place, they are loose.This is a really fantastic example of a 100+ year old piece.The original key is included and the lock mechanism works. the metal lock faceplate is missing but easily replaced.Some light wear but amazing condition for such an old piece. TAKE A LOOK AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK..
