A spectacular antique (1820s-30s) solid brass surveyor\'s transit level with a compass, all in its original wooden box.

Manufactured by William Harris & Co., 50 Holborn London. William Harris worked at this address from 1816 to 1839, which helps to date this instrument to the first third of the 19th century.

The wooden box needs repair, the instrument itself is in excellent condition. This is a rare and magnificent piece, the transit is in very good condition, the brass is naturally patinated.
