  Bedrock 605 Plane,  April 2, 1895

You are offerding on a 605 Bedrock Plane for restoration or parts.  The length of the plane is 13 7/8 inches.  Its width is 2 ¼ inches.  It is marked 605 in front of the knob and Bedrock on the lever cap.  The plane does not have its cutter.  The tote has been cracked and clued back together.  In addition it is chipped at its top.  All other pieces appear to be extant.  The nuts at the top of the knob and at the top of the tote are brass.  The screw anchoring the tote to the base has a brass washer beneath it.  I am not sure if that is original.  The adjustment nut is also brass.  There is a patent date of April 2, 1895 on the base.  Japanning is scratched but appears to be approximately 85 per cent or more in place.  The piece could use a good cleaning.  I believe with a cutter and a tote you have a very nice plane.  The base of the plane is flat.  There are scratches but are to be expected on a 122 year old tool.  The plane was obviously not tested.   It appears that the plane was manufactured by Stanley Tools although I was unable to find any markings on the Bedrock plane that would corroborate that.
