Antique Chinese Purple Black Silk Cut Work Applique Robe Jacket & Pants
This vintage antique Chinese purple and black silk cut work applique robe jacket and pants dates from the 1920s. It is made of a dark purple silk damask weave brocade fabric with a woven floral pattern and black silk fabric overlapping applique cutwork done in decorative designs. This Manchu working class womens two piece outfit includes a short style robe jacket with a loose fitting boxy style, front side opening, hidden breast patch pocket underneath the front flap opening, long full sleeves, black silk knotted button toggles closures and is fully lined in a blue cotton fabric inside. The jacket measures 26 inches long, with a 40 inch chest, 44 inch waist and 26 inch long sleeves. Included are a pair of black silk pants, with black silk damask weave ribbon trim edging the cuffs, a blue cotton top elastic waistband and are unlined. The pants measure 41 inches long, with a 27 inch inseam, 26 to 32 inch waist and 48 inch hips. It is in excellent condition, with only some slight fraying along the bottom pant leg cuffs. This is truly a wonderful piece of wearable Chinese textile art!
