This antique Chinese silk embroidered tiger, snake, insect medallion badge robe trim dates from the 1920s. It is made of a black silk fabric background, with colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidery work of a tiger catching a snake, a gecko and a variety of insects encircling him. This beautifully embroidered textile badge medallion roundel remnant might have come off of an older Manchu robe, or wedding ceremonial wall hanging banner and has been professionally matted onto a newer silk damask weave patterned fabric border trim matting and blue silk backing suitable and ready for framing. The embroidery work measures 8 1/2 inches across and with the additional framed matting is 13 1/2 inches and 41 inches in circumference. It is in excellent condition, with only some faint ink markings and discoloration staining on the blue silk backing. This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery art!
