You are offerding on a highly collectible civil war souvenir piece of jewelry in the form of a pendant marked U. S. on one side and Gettysburg on the other. The pendant is about the size of a dime (see photos) and comes with the original link loop attached to two loops on each side of the pendant. The pendant itself is designed in the form of a canteen which no doubt was quite valuable to either army of the North or South. It may be constructed of either brass or is gold-filled; I have no way of testing except it truly appears to be gold-filled. The condition is excellent and the pendant is ready to wear on your selected chain. Also, it might be worn as a charm. Please note my pictures carefully and email me with any questions.
