Antique Steiff teddy bear. I think he is an early one. The button is gone from the ear. He has the all black glass eyes and a humpback. He also has some sort of a noise box that does not work though it squeezes without a problem. It does squeeze from side to side versus front to back and seems firmly in place. I tried to get an exact date looking through the Steiff Button In Ear book that I have, but I couldn\'t find anything about a side to side bellows device. He has some holes in one pad. He is center seamed both front and back and it looks like someone did a couple of stitches in front. Straw stuffing has settled a bit in his body. See pictures for condition. He is a very lovely little bear with an engagingly shy and somewhat sad expression, not at all imperious as some of the other early bears that I have seen. He just needs a new home to love him. I think he is perfect the way he is, but others knowledgeable may wish to give him some TLC.
