ANTIQUE c1800\'s NEO-CLASSICAL MYTHICAL NEMEAN (MEDICI) LION & WOMAN WITH ORB ALABASTER STATUE!

Gorgeous 19th century hand carved small Neo-Classical statue depicting what appears to be the mythical Nemean or Medici Lion with a woman holding an orb. Killed by Hercules with his bare hands in myth and legend, this lion is also represented by the Constellation Leo and the sign of the zodiac. The woman is holding an orb...wears a crown of olive leaves or branches...is posed seductively with one leg exposed from beneath her clothing. Somewhat confusing masculine face and head features add a bit of mystery to the actual mythical personality being depicted. Very fine condition overall with some nicks and shelf wear noted at the base bottom as photographed. Original attachment to the base appears to be with an unknown white media. No hairlines or losses noted save for as mentioned. Measures in at 8 & 1/4\" tall. Ask questions if you have them...will be carefully packed and shipped promptly upon confirmation of your payment.
