Here is a really fantastic deal on a delightful antique oak bureau bookcase with drop front desk or secretary as they are commonly referred to here in the US. This lovely desk with bookcase above and drawers below wasrecently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland and is oak, probably early to mid-twentieth century, with really nice metaltear droppulls and leaded old glass doors with three adjustable shelves within the bookcase. This delightful piece stands 71 inches tall and measures 28 1/2 inches wide by 17 1/2 inches deep, front to back which is just a bit more diminutive than most like this which makes it perfect for an apartments, smaller home or other location with limited space available. The work surface of the desk when open measures 27 inches wide by 21 inches front to back andis 26 inches above the floor. There are a number of cubbies along the back of the inside of the desk for storing papers, supplies and personal items. There are three large bureau drawers below the drop front desk, each 25 and 3/4 inches wide and 15 3/4 inches front to back and 4, 4 and 5 1/2 inches deep in descending order. Overall this magnificent desk offers everything you need to keep your books, papers and other supplies or even clothing organized as well as offering a convenient compact work station within an attractive oak wood cabinet. As mentioned above, the quartersawn oak used in this piece has some beautiful wood grains including the boards on both sides of the piece as well as the front.
