I buy vintage linens at local estate sales to pass them along to you. Recently I\'ve found some lovely linens.These may be the prettiest pillowcases I\'ve ever had. They are made of woven white linen, very smooth and soft. I believe they may have been handmade, since they are slightly different in sizes: one measures 34.5\" long by 21.75\" and the other 35 by 21. This measurement does not include the 2\" of Irish crocheted lace all around the bottoms of each. The lace is handmade and of beautiful quality. Each case has a 2\" hem with a row of laddering or hemstitching, and each has a hand embroidered monogram. The monograms are diamond-shaped, measuring about 3.5\" wide, and they feature the initials CPP (I think - it could be PPP). The style of the initials is somewhat Art Deco, which may help to date these.I have laundered and pressed these and found the fabric to be in sound condition, supple and springy and not brittle. Their condition is excellent, but the lace is slightly pulled out of shape, and there are one or two broken connectors. I have tried to give you a good idea of the lace condition in the photos. I found two areas of spotting: one small brownish spot on the front of one case, and one area with two faint darkish smudges on the back of the other. These are shown in the last two photos. Even with these spots these are wonderful pillowcases with extraordinarily beautiful lace. They have an heirloom look.I am storing this in my smoke-free home, but I do have a cat who sheds copiously, so be aware if you have allergies. Please contact me for more information or photos.
