Antique Swiss singing bird box made byC.H. Marguerat,circa 1925

Beautiful, highly colorful bird with extremely vivid, iridescent hummingbird feathers. The bird is feathered with a combination of various blue hues, light greens and reds.

I fully serviced (cleaned, adjusted, lubricated)the mechanical movement so this singing bird box operates perfectly. Buyers should be cautious when purchasing an antique singing bird box - always insist on seeing a photo of the mechanical movement for anysinging bird box described as \"antique\". Over 75% of the \"antique\" singing bird boxes for sale on & other other venues (especially Karl Griesbaum examples) are not antique and have a brand new movement or bird installed in place of the original. This significantly impacts both current value and future value appreciation.

A beautiful example of an antique Swiss singing bird box priced less than brand new modern reproductions. The brass case is adorned with a romantic courting scene, cherubs, musical instruments and floral swags. What I like about this case is that the scenes are not \"too heavy\" and have a more refined look.

Original solid brass, pinned mechanical movement is in wonderful condition. Marguerat used a special governor mechanism that used centrifugal force instead of the more common \"air brake\" governor fan.

C.H. Marguerat hand crafted high quality singing bird boxes during the 1920s - he passed away in 1931.

This bird box comes with a bird shaped winding key.
