Victorian / Edwardian Pouter Pigeon Corset Cover

Exquisite Victorian / Edwardian Corset cover in a super fine (mostly transparent) white Irish linen.

The embroidery work on this was done by a master and you can see the fine hand

details inside if you look closely. The embroidery is done with petal flowers (six petals per flower) and has

cut work in the middle. There are leaves and Swiss type dots done above and below the

flower panel. The edges have been scalloped and are also embroidered on top and bottom as well

as the shoulder straps. The back also has extensive embroidery and cutwork. The shoulder straps are literally a work of art.

They did a double edge fold over the linen insert and the edges/seams have the tiniest and finest embridery work that I think I\'ve

ever seen. I included a photo but it doesn\'t show very well. Surely a princess wore this! It\'s just that fine.

Now for the condition.

1) There is a very faint age stain as shown in the last photo near the waist. It\'s

about the size of a pencil eraser. I believe this can easily be treated.

2)There has been a repair to the left underarm from underneath as shown in

the second to last photo. A few of the cutwork sections nearest the underarm were torn by the ribbon and

they fixed it this way.

3) There are a few itty bitty, and I mean needle tip size age marks here and there. See third to last photo

for example. They really are barely there and are also easy to remove. There are a few dark marks on this inside

seams that cannot or are barley seen from the outside. Again, these should be easy to treat.

4) The pink silk ribbon seems to be in great shape. The edges are a tiny bit frayed.

I noticed that the photos make it looks like there are underarm stains. However, looking at

it right now in the light, I cannot see them.

I didn\'t see any big or noticeable sized holes.

Really, really, lovely in person.

I have washed this and it\'s ready to wear.
