19th Century watchmaker\'s oil lamp in cobalt glass with articulated brassbase. The cobalt glass globe is a bit larger than 3\" in diameter and is blown in a two piece mold. The metal fittings are apparently nickle plated brass. The base looks like tin plate but is not magnetic. i.e. spun brass nickle plated.There is a hand engraved monograph \"E K\" on the rim of the base which was likely the watchmaker\'s initials. Concept of the lamp was the articulation in the spherical base socket bringing the light very close to the work. Rare American lamp of museum quality - all original and all there.
