Guaranteed to be original and as described --Authentic antique 19th Century East African , Baule tribe sculpture wood carving. The female figure has her hands in front and her protruding belly button is prominent. Her eyes have scarification marks beneath them. The hair is wonderful and every thing is exquisite about this carving including the fantastic shiny patina that you only get from age. I had the carving looked at by the Stephenson African Art gallery in New York.... and he concluded that this is in fact a AUTHENTIC and original old late 1800\'s African carving. This carving was valued in upwards of $ 1,500 I was told. There is a hole in the very bottom.. as you can see from the last photo. This was done at the time that this was made.. should be easy to find a display stand for this artifact....SIZE: 10 3/4 inches high by about 1 1/2 inches at the widest part...by about 1 1/4 inches deep....CONDITION: The condition is very good.. andas shown there are norepairs...please grade using thephoto\'s provided. There is a old tight age crack on the top of her left leg. There is another very tight age crack on the side of her head. This is to be expected from age .. as this is from the late 19th Century!.
