I used to sell at gun shows back during the 1990s and I have some inventory left over from back then. Included in this leftover inventory are several pieces of Lee Enfield SMLE furniture. Including this forestock for a No 1 Mk III. Here are the details specific to this stock:This forestock appears to be walnut. It has a nice, dark patina and a straight grain. The photos give the appearance that it is somewhat dark on each end, but this isn't the case. My camera's flash was not lighting the stock evenly all the way across. The stock is actually an even medium-brown color all the way across. It appears never to have been installed, or issued, as it were. This stock was in storage for over a decade and during this time, unbeknownst to me, my storage unit had a rat infestation problem. And for reasons that I don't quite understand, a rat or rats decided that this forestock would be tasty. As a result there are some light gnaw marks around the band groove. These can be sanded out easily. A minor cosmetic issue, but one I felt I should point out.This piece will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail in a box I will have to fabricate unless I get lucky and find one this size.
