Provenance:About 35 yearsago, this Artistry and Old Lace doll with this signed Tricia Smith (of ColoradoSprings) head was sold to the Mystic Doll Museum in Mystic, Connecticut for $125. Of course, the museum sold them for more.

Dollartists make reproductions for collectors who cannot afford to pay thousandsfor the original rare doll. THE DOLLMAKER (Number 31) has an articleabout Artistry and Old Lace (me) and Tricia Smith\'s heads. Artistry andOld lace used the best materials available at that time, like Seeley bodies,Dollspart wigs, hand blown glass eyes.At the time, they were consideredsome of the nicest reproductions available (and they still are), and the museumhad a difficult time keeping them in stock.

When the heads of the different models arrived,I kept the one I liked best for my own collection. This is one chosen to be kept all these years because of herbeautiful modeling, painting, and clothing.

Clothes: Pale pinkdouble tiered acetate dress with narrow white cotton lace trim and white ribbonaround waist. White full length slip trimmed in narrow cotton lace. Whitecotton drawers trimmed with tucks and matching narrow lace. Made by Artistryand Old Lace, Producers of Fine Dolls.

Shoes-Dollspart black patent (plastic) with ankle strap. White cotton sox.

Body: Seeley.The finish on many of these old bodies, like this one, darkens with age notuniformly. With clothes, it is not visible..

Details: Closed mouthwith accent lines on lips, blue glass stationary eyes; honey blonde wig’; tinypearl earrings that match tiny pearl trim on bodice
