Civil War "Bullseye" Canteen with Bullet Hole:

I believe this Bullseye Canteen says Porter and Booth on the spout. The name is hard to read under the grime. It doesn't look like the canteen has ever been cleaned. You can see the flecking paint and grime in the pictures. You can also see the prominent entry and exit holes consistent with a bullet passing through it. These are not recently made holes. The canteen was found at an estate sale in southeast Iowa. The canteen came from the estate of a man in his nineties. I will provide the family name and town name to the winner. There must be a good story to go with the holes. Maybe someone is still around who can tell it.
This is the first item that I have listed in nearly nine years. I will be selling a variety of unique antique items covering all categories this winter.
