I have owned this sword for many years.I was told when I bought the sword that it was Civil War era and that it was possibly made by the Ames Arms Company that supplied the Northern armies during the war.At some point in time Mexico contacted the United States Companies and bought many of these Cilvil War era swords for their own armies.This one is marked Mexico A. C. for Antonio Casadilles.The sword with the scabbard measures 40 in. long.There is one dent in the scabbard.One of the rings on the scabbard is also missing.
